Having tested hundreds of different software programs out there, I’m proud to bring you a compilation of the finest recommendations and my personal favourites. Indeed, many of the programs and softwares outlined form an integral part of my own online business.

So please, take a look, try them out for yourself and I’d welcome any feedback on your experience with each of the software platforms below.

GoDaddy

#1 FOR HOSTING WEBSITES AND BLOGS

I have worked with GoDaddy for some time now and I find their service excellent. They offer hosting with free domains - if you purchase a web hosting plan. They store your site on one of their servers and assign it a unique DNS. The DNS serves as the address that allows people around the world to find and view your website.

HostGator

HostGator gives you a vast array of tools to take your idea or business online today! From site building tools and templates, to our one-click application installer, everything you need to launch a website is literally at your fingertips.

1&1

1&1 offers a range of Web hosting products, including email solutions and servers in many countries to site creation, technical support and domain registration. They have comprehensive and affordable packages to suit all budgets. They also offer marketing and an online shop in their packages.

123-reg

#1 FOR HOSTING WEBSITES AND BLOGS

They've registered over 3 million domain names and host over 1.7 million websites, making them the largest domain provider in the UK. 123-reg has a simple set up service and offers a wide range of services, including website hosting products and managed hosting services.

OUTSOURCING

Upwork

Formerly Elance-oDesk, is a global freelancing platform where businesses and independent professionals connect and collaborate remotely. Upwork allows clients to interview, hire and work with freelancers and agencies through the company's platform. Their platform now includes a real-time chat function aimed at reducing the time it takes to find and hire freelancers. Cool huh?

fiverr.com

This is a great community of freelancers carrying out a variety of tasks for $5! A service offered on Fiverr is called a Gig. Gigs are offered for a fixed, base price of $5 - also referred to as one Fiverr. This is a great place to take care of everything from graphic design to market research to web work. For e.g. you can get creative static and video banners done for your webpages for just $5. Remember most sites have sizing restrictions. The freelancers here will be able to create the right images for the right sites, and any other graphic challenges you may have.

EMAIL MARKETING / LANDING PAGES / AUTORESPONDERS

Lead Pages

This is such an easy to use tool for creating amazing marketing pages that capture new leads effortlessly. It's a simple drag and drop system. You can create all types of pages with amazing features for new leads. SEO and mobile optimised for maximum effect. LeadPages works with WordPress and non-WordPress sites. I highly recommend LeadPages for any new, or existing business. If you want to see one of their pages, which I assure you was so easy to create go to the top of this page and click on ‘Newbies Guide To Biz Start Up’.

Aweber

In my experience this is one of the most popular and easiest email marketing software programs available. It’s all about helping you to effectively communicate your business benefits to customers and prospects. They have some great tools and templates to help you customise your campaigns and newsletters. They offer a 30-day free trial too. That was how I got started, by using their trial to see if they offered my business any benefit. And yep, they did.

Tapfiliate

Tapfiliate is affiliate tracking software. It enables you to create, track and optimize your own affiliate programs.

Crazy Egg

Crazy Egg is like a pair of X-ray glasses and lets you see exactly what people are doing on your website. It shows you where people are clicking, and perhaps more importantly where they aren’t. It highlights how many people scroll through your pages, where they stop, time spent in different areas of your page and even where the traffic has come from! This is a great tool that gives you an invaluable insight into your site visitors and how they are viewing your web page.

Wishpond

Wishpond provides simple tools and functionality allowing you to build a whole host of useful elements for your online business. From landing pages to contests, from tracking leads to sending emails, Wishpond has it covered. Their landing page builder has great features to help you build, publish & test the exact mobile-responsive landing page you want to achieve. I’m a huge fan!

CREATIVE TOOLS

Camtasia

Camtasia is an easy to use screen recorder & video editing application. You can capture and record anything that is on your screen. You can create quick simple videos or use Camtasia’s professional editing software to create more dynamic clips with a variety of effects that you can share with your viewers anywhere anytime. This is a favorite software of mine for creating webinars and tutorials.

PicMonkey

PicMonkey is an online photo editor which supports whatever your creative heart desires. From basic editing all the way up to advanced level tasks such as cloning, and special effects. Furthermore, new features and tools are continually added, with no software to download and no registration. This is a favourite of many bloggers and small business owners. They have a basic plan which is free to use and their advanced packages come for as little as $4.99 a month.
